Aren't we all bearing the cross of these evils, being weighed down by how much these evils continue to increase?  Wherever there has been any levity and improvements due to our prayers and persistence, the forces behind these evils also persist so that the challenges of the weight continue to burden our society and us as individuals.  We must continue to pray (even harder) and do our part (even more) because the slightest lapse on our part will only add to the weight of that cross!

So very true, Donna. While this particular cross image is obviously a Christian reference, the lesson is one for all people, of any religion or no religion. We must all commit ourselves to bringing healing change to our world by the example of our personal lives and our persistence to mend the divisions and inequality in which these evils fester and take root.
